Cambridge Resthaven – community trust – serving our community for over 45 years.

Cambridge Resthaven is set among the beautiful established trees next to the greenbelt, with great views of the countryside, and close to Cambridge’s shops and amenities. As Cambridge has grown, Cambridge Resthaven has grown too, putting resources everyday back into the local community through a variety of activities for example; meals on wheels, MENZ Shed, Freedom wheelers, Showtime travel connect and a visiting service.

Cambridge Resthaven is a familiar part of the towns landscape and history, with the iconic water tower dominating the site. Cambridge Resthaven Trust Board was set up in 1966 by the community groups; Lions, Rotary, Federated Farmers, RSA, Country Womens institute and Cambridge Borough Council.

These groups committed to fundraise for a Resthome in Cambridge. After an outstanding fundraising effort from the Cambridge Community, Friends of Resthaven and with considerable individual donations the first stage of the resthome was built and opened in November 1972. Truly a community project! Further fundraising from all these groups and the community resulted in the Hospital wing built around 1985, with further developments in 2009 and 2012 from individual donations.

Since 2016 the Board of Trustees have been selected (by the service groups as above) from candidates within the Cambridge community, ensuring a range of business acumen, as Resthaven continues to grow, and ensuring sustainability for the future.
